The Theme: Change
We decided for this game jam to take the theme literally. Change: diaper change. So we made a 2D infinate sidescroller where you are a baby running away from their Mom's diaper changing grasp.
Working on a team of two, my partner designed all the art (except the baby scribbles on the wall) and together we implemented the code.
This project was our first game jam, and we had a week to complete it. Using Love2D, we built the game in its entirety, other than the use of a few libraries. It definitely taught me the importance of having someone else play test.
I was so focused on testing health and intentionally running into obstacles, that I failed to realize that the toys never generated along the top and bottom paths. It wasn't until my partner tried the game that we realized you could play forever without ever hitting an obstacle.
About the Game
Imagine this: you're a baby, you're running through your toys, and your diaper's full. Life is fantastic. You're peaking. But, evil lurks behind you and wishes to terminate your sweet paradise.
You will be pushed to your limits as you must bob and weave through an endless amount of toys and dodge your enemy's unrelenting baby-grabbing attacks. Will you have what it takes to keep your diaper full? Or will you suffer the worst fate of all... A diaper change?
- 2D infinite sidescroller.
- You're a cute little baby dodging his moms arms and avoiding ranomized obstacles.
- It keeps getting faster. Oh Sh*t!
